Byurakan Archive

The Digitized First Byurakan Survey (DFBS) Archive collects data from the historic observational survey obtained by the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, located on the slopes of Mount Aragats in Armenia at an altitude of 1,405 meters. The original survey, conducted using the 1-meter Schmidt telescope, represents one of the largest wide-field spectral mappings ever made, playing a key role in the discovery of active galaxies, quasars, and peculiar stars.
The technological infrastructure and digital preservation of the archive are managed in close collaboration with the INAF IA2 team. Through the digitization of historic photographic plates and integration with Virtual Observatory (VO) protocols, IA2 converts this astrophysical heritage into a fully interoperable resource. Today, the archive enables researchers to carry out large-scale time-domain analyses and cross-correlate historical spectral observations with modern international astronomical surveys.

BaSTI Archive

The BaSTI database (a Bag of Stellar Tracks and Isochrones) is a theoretical reference archive on an international level for evolutionary modeling and stellar population synthesis, developed and maintained by researchers at the INAF – Astronomical Observatory of Abruzzo (Teramo). The catalog provides the scientific community with an extensive grid of evolutionary tracks and isochrones computed for a wide range of stellar masses, chemical compositions, and evolutionary stages, spanning from the main sequence through to the white dwarf phase.
The archive infrastructure is hosted and curated by the IA2 center, providing advanced query tools, interpolation capabilities, and synthetic data extraction. Fully adhering to FAIR principles and implementing Virtual Observatory (VO) standards, BaSTI allows astrophysicists to directly compare theoretical stellar evolution models with real photometric and spectroscopic observations collected by ground-based telescopes and space missions such as Gaia. IA2, che offre strumenti avanzati di interrogazione, interpolazione ed estrazione dei dati sintetici. Grazie alla piena rispondenza ai principi FAIR e all’adozione degli standard del Virtual Observatory (VO), BaSTI permette agli astrofisici di confrontare direttamente i modelli di evoluzione stellare teorici con le osservazioni fotometriche e spettroscopiche reali ottenute da telescopi di terra e missioni spaziali come Gaia.
